Bismarck Bobcats News Release

Bobcat Hockey starts the regular season this weekend and it is sure to be a war. The Bobcats will host the greatest rival, the Alexandria Blizzard. The Bobcat/Blizzard rivalry has over the years turned into a heated one on both sides of the red line and this year will be no different. The Blizzard return a host of key players as do the Bobcats. Coach Pool has made some excellent off season additions in his first full year as head coach. Under his leadership the Bobcats fight to again be champions.

The Bobcats are coming off an encouraging showcase garnering three points but playing well enough to be 500 coming out of the shoot. The weekend showed spurts of scoring, particularly by the line of Miller, Singer and Keefer, who had a natural hat trick in game two. The defense played well for the most part as they learn how to play in combinations. Dave Bosner, a late addition to the Bobcat roster appears to have earned the starting position in the net. Over the showcase weekend, Dave had one win and a shootout loss with a goals against average of 1.76 and save percentage of 94.6%, which is good for fourth in the league after the first four games.

The Bobcats are in second place in the standings, two points behind the division leading Blizzard. This weekend will be an early test of the teams' will and determination in what will be a year long battle. Along with Bobcat Hockey's new look and feel for the '08-'09 season, we've amped up the opener. The limo on the ice will feel familiar, but the lineup will be brought to you with an edge. Come early for the 75 cent happy hour beer, and stay for the lights, the music, and the grand finale... the game. The puck drops at 7:30 on Friday with a rematch on Saturday at 7:00 at the VFW.

Bobcat Hockey! It a whole new game.
