Alum Faragher Promoted to AHL San Diego

SAN DIEGO, CA -- After a 3-0-0 start in the ECHL with the Utah Grizzlies, Bismarck Bobcat alumnus Ryan Faragher has been recalled to the AHL's San Diego Gulls.

Relocated in the 2015 offseason from Norfolk, Va., the Gulls are the top minor league affiliate for the Anaheim Ducks, with whom Faragher is under an NHL contract for the second straight season.

In 15 AHL appearances last year, Faragher posted a 2.57 GAA and a .901 SV% with the Norfolk Admirals. He was placed on the Ducks' NHL roster for the 2015 Stanley Cup Playoffs after the Admirals' season concluded, making him the first former Bobcat to reach the NHL.

Faragher played two seasons for the Bobcats between 2009 and 2011, winning two Central Cups and backstopping the Cats to their only Robertson Cup in 2010. He remains in the top three of every all-time franchise goaltending record--wins, GAA, SV%, shutouts, saves and minutes--and top five in those categories for single-season totals.

Starring Shepard

Thanks to a weekend that saw him stop 49 of 52 shots in a two-game split against the defending Robertson Cup champion Minnesota Wilderness, Bobcat goalie Hunter Shepard was named the Central Division's Second Star of the Week Monday.

It's the second straight week a Bobcat has been named the Second Star for the Central after Alex Strand nabbed the honor last Monday.

Winger Nick Alexander was an honorable mention for the Star of the Week award with a goal and an assist against the Wilderness.

Good Start

It was a productive weekend for Bobcat alums, as 23 former Cats found their way onto scoresheets in the college and pro ranks, but nobody had a better weekend than 2011-13 center Adam Knochenmus, who posted three goals and two assists to help 10th-ranked Wisconsin-Eau Claire open the D-III season with two wins.
