Washington, D.C. (June 6, 2008) - D.C. United announced today that BMX rider Jamie Bestwick will participate in the Soccer Celebration festivities on June 14 before United takes on the New York Red Bulls.

As part of the pre-game festivities, a special vert ramp will be brought into Parking Lot 8, where BMX riders will do an exhibition and Bestwick will sign autographs. Fans will be able to enter a drawing for an autographed bike and a prize pack, for which Bestwick will announce the winner at halftime. There will also be free giveaways at the AST Dew Tour booth, including bandanas, wristbands and t-shirts.

English-born Bestwick will be in the area for the first stop of the 2008 AST Dew Tour, Baltimore's Panasonic Open, June 19-22 at Camden Yards Sports Complex. The AST Dew Tour is an action sports tour that consists of five multi-sport events. Top action sports athletes take part in this annual event, including Bestwick, snowboarder Shaun White and skateboarder Ryan Sheckler.

Bestwick began his career as a professional BMX rider in 1996 and just four years later won his first X Games gold medal. In 2005 Bestwick won every contest he entered, including the 2005 BMX Vert Dew Cup. The following year, he won four out of the five tour stops to earn his second Dew Cup and was named 2006 AST Dew Tour Athlete of the Year. He followed up in 2007 with his third consecutive Dew Cup.
