NEWARK, NJ - In a game that featured a combined four home runs, the Bridgeport Bluefish defeated the Newark Bears 6-4 at Bears and Eagles Riverfront Stadium on Monday night.
The first home run was hit by Bluefish first baseman Jesse Hoorelbeke and started a three-run second inning. However, the Bears responded with back-to-back solo home runs by Cory Aldridge and Val Majewski in the bottom of the second to make the score 3-2. It was Aldridge's sixth homer of the season and Majewski's fourth, marking his second in two games.
The Bears took the lead in the third inning. Bobby Hill led off with a single and Ramon Castro followed with a walk. Both men later scored on RBI singles by Jose Herrera and Majewski to give the Bears a 4-3 lead.
Bridgeport tied the game with a run in the fourth, and took the lead on Brian Munhall's RBI single in the fifth. The Bluefish increased their lead to 6-4 in the top of the sixth inning on Hoorelbeke's second home run of the game, and league-leading ninth of the season.
