Bridgeport Bluefish News Release
Bridgeport, CT - May, 10th - The Bridgeport Bluefish announced today that they have signed right handed pitcher Kevin Hodges. Hodges will fill the gap left by the departure of Will Cunnane who was picked up by the St. Louis Cardinals yesterday.
Hodges had limited major league experience with the Seattle Mariners in 2000. He has spent the past five seasons in Asia, four in Japan (Yakult Swallows, Rakutan Golden Eagles) and one season (2004) with the Samsung Lions of the Korean Baseball Organization.
From 2001 through 2004 Hodges maintained a record of 27-20 logging 210 strikeouts and posting a 4.16 ERA. Hodges is scheduled to start for the Bluefish this Saturday against the Somerset Patriots in a home game at the Ballpark at Harbor Yard.
"We are excited to bring Kevin Hodges to Bridgeport. A large part of success in the Atlantic League is to have the ability to replace quality players with equally talented players. We feel that we won't miss a beat in adding Kevin to our staff," said Bluefish General Manager Charlie Dowd.
The Bluefish close out a three game set in Lancaster Thursday evening and return home Friday to begin a three game series with the Somerset Patriots. Friday's game begins at 7:05 and features a post game fireworks show. Saturday is also a 7:05 start and the Bluefish will welcome WFAN's Chris "Mad Dog" Russo to the Ballpark at Harbor Yard. The series finale is scheduled for Sunday at 1:35 as all kids can run the bases and receive free ice cream on Sundae Fun Day Run Day.
The Bridgeport Bluefish Professional Baseball Club, a charter team in the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball, plays its home games at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard, located off Exit 27 of I-95 on the corner of Broad Street and South Frontage Road in Bridgeport. The Bluefish lead the league in franchise attendance, having drawn one million fans faster than any other team in Connecticut minor league history. 2006 season tickets, mini-plans and group outings are available by calling 203-345-4800.
