Bridgeport Bluefish News Release

The Bridgeport Bluefish (23-14, second half) scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning on their way to a comeback win against the Road Warriors (13-24.) Matt Beech started for the Fish and got a no-decision while going 6 innings, giving up four earned runs on 10 hits and five strikeouts.

With the score tied at one in the bottom of the third Bryant Nelson smacked a long double off the left field wall. Deivi Cruz followed that up by lacing a sharp single into right field, scoring Nelson from second to put the Bluefish ahead 2-1.

Beech ran into some trouble in the top of the 5th when David Housel laced a one out single to right. The Road Warriors then worked the hit-and-run to perfection as Sheldon Fulse singled to left with Housel advancing to third. After a Teuris Olivares RBI groundout, Mike Huggins ripped a single to left-center scoring Fulse and putting the Road Warriors ahead by one.

The Road Warriors added to their lead in the 6th when Brian Jarosinski ripped a triple off Beech down the right field line, which was followed by an RBI single off the bat of Derek Barrows.

The Bluefish came storming back in the bottom of the 7th. Deivi Cruz smacked an RBI single, one of his four hits, followed by a 2-RBI single by P.J. Rose.

Eddy Ramos (1-5) pitched a 1-2-3 7th inning to earn his 1st win of the season. Jimmy Journell struck out the side in the 9th to record his 2nd save of the year.

The Bluefish and Road Warriors will continue their three-game series Saturday night at the Ballpark. Saturday's game is scheduled for 7:05. Gates will open at 5:30 for a special pre-game autograph session with the entire Bluefish squad. Tickets are still available and may be purchased online at www.bridgeportbluefish.com or by calling the Bluefish box office at (203) 345-4800.
