Wilmington Blue Rocks News Release

Wilmington, DE --- The Wilmington Blue Rocks will be taking the field over the Fourth of July weekend in Red, White and Blue Jerseys. The Jerseys will be worn on Saturday, July 1 and Monday, July 3, with fireworks to follow both games.

The Blue Rocks will trade in their traditional colors for the patriotic jerseys in support of United Cerebral Palsy of Delaware's (UCP) Children's Respite Programs and summer camps. There will be a silent auction and raffle with all proceeds going toward the UCP of Delaware.

"We have done this in the past and the fans really support it and it is for a really good cause," Blue Rocks General Manager Chris Kemple said. "We are hoping the Fourth of July weekend will produce some big crowds and generate a good amount of money for the UCP."

The two UCP summer camps in Delaware benefiting from the event are Camp Manito in Wilmington, DE and Camp Lenape in Felton, DE.

There will be a silent auction along with a raffle for the jerseys worn. There have also been three jerseys signed by the entire Blue Rocks team. One jersey will be auctioned off on Saturday, July 1 and another jersey will be auctioned off on Monday, July 3.

The third autographed jersey will be auctioned off on the Blue Rocks web site at www.bluerocks.com. Online bidding will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 4 and end on Monday, July 10 at 5:00 p.m.

On Saturday, July 1, the Blue Rocks will be taking on the Lynchburg Hillcats, Carolina League affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates. The game on Monday, July 3, Wilmington will be playing the Salem Avalanche, Carolina League affiliate of the Houston Astros.

Some of the other great promotions this year at Frawley Stadium include four more fireworks nights and great giveaways such as Judy Johnson Statues, Skyy Dog USA and baseball gloves.
