Dunedin Blue Jays News Release

Dunedin, FL - On Thursday, April 30, the Dunedin Blue Jays will host their third annual "Wing Fest" on their first "Thirsty Thursday" of the 2009 Florida State League season when they take on the Clearwater Threshers at 7 p.m.

"Wing Fest" will bring copious amounts of poultry to Dunedin Stadium that evening, as local restaurants will come out to prepare themselves for a night of good old fashioned competition to find out which eatery has the best chicken wings around.

The competition itself will see the restaurants bring their best recipes to the table to be judged by the fans as they come out to see the game. The stadium gates will open at 6 p.m. and fans will vote on which restaurant has the best wings. The winners of the contest will be announced during the 6th inning of that night's game.

On top of tasting, fans will be able to take part in a wing eating contest during the top of the 4th inning where the object will be to gobble down as many wings as they can starting with the first pitch of the half inning and ending with its final out.

In addition to the chicken-related activities, fans will be invited to donate non-perishable food items in a fundraiser that will see all donations go to Gulf Coast Jewish Family Services, Inc. in Palm Harbor, FL.

It'll also be the first "Thirsty Thursday" of the season for the Blue Jays, as fans can come out to the game and enjoy fountain sodas and draft beers for only $1. The Thirsty Thursday Ticket Package is still available, as well. For only $40, fans will receive tickets for all 10 "Thirsty Thursday" games throughout the 2009 season. You must be 21 years old or older to sign up.
