For the final night home game of the 2009 season, the Dunedin Blue Jays will host a fundraiser for F.E.A.S.T. (Food Emergency and Services Team) out of Palm Harbor on Saturday, August 29 when they take on the Lakeland Flying Tigers at 7 p.m.
The Blue Jays will partner with F.E.A.S.T., St. Mark Lutheran Church of Dunedin and other local organizations to put on the fundraiser with the hopes that fans will bring their canned food items, cereals, peanut butter and other non-perishable food items to the park to help support families in Pinellas County.
In addition, any fan that brings in a food donation will receive a free Blue Jays bobblehead for their support. The choir from St. Mark will perform the National Anthem that night.
The fundraiser well take place during Fan Appreciation Night, where fans who come to the ballpark can enjoy a night dedicated to the loyal Blue Jays fan base. The first 300 kids will receive a "Back to School" gift package, and each fan with paid admission will be entered into a drawing to win a free motorized scooter.
After the game is over, fans are invited to stick around to take in a fireworks display beyond the center field fence. Tickets for the event are $6 for general admission, with $3 from each ticket going to F.E.A.S.T.
F.E.A.S.T. is a local food pantry located in Palm Harbor that has been serving the community for 26 years, helping more than 4,000 people in northern Pinellas County per month. It is a non-profit, non-sectarian organization that receives no government aid and only relies on the generosity of the community to provide financial support and food for their clients.
