Blue Jays' Offense Stalls in 5-0 Loss
April 23, 2023 - Florida State League (FSL)
Dunedin Blue Jays News Release
Jupiter, FL - Dunedin went into Saturday night's game at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium looking to get back to .500 with a win, but the continuation of offensive woes and a dominant pitching performance by Cardinals starter Hancel Rincon allowed Palm Beach to coast to a 5-0 win.
Rincon needed just seventy-eight pitches to toss seven shutout innings for the Cardinals, only allowing three total baserunners (two hits and an error), and leaving the game still facing the minimum. Rincon was extremely efficient, only two Blue Jays worked a three-ball count all not, and neither walked. Rincon didn't give up anything for free, and the Dunedin lineup saw the few opportunities they did create slip away almost instantaneously.
This marks another lackluster game at the plate for Dunedin in this series. Blue Jays batters are hitting just .113 (17-for-150) since this series started Tuesday night, despite manager Donnie Murphy moving guys up and down the order, and testing out different lineup strategies.
The Blue Jays will have another shot to split the series with the Cardinals in the wrap-up game Sunday afternoon before bussing back home to TD Ballpark. First pitch for the series-finale is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. and will be live on the Dunedin Blue Jays Radio Network with coverage beginning at 11:30 a.m.
