Oklahoma City Blue News Release
ORLANDO - The Oklahoma City Blue (8-5) fell to the Raptors 905 (10-3), 115-93, on Wednesday night.
Oklahoma City got on the board first with an Antonius Cleveland layup before the 905 went on to double the Blue's point total in the first quarter and build on that lead to take a 58-39 lead into the break. The Blue trailed by as many as 35 points in the third frame but outscored the Raptors 33-26 in the fourth quarter and trimmed the deficit to 20 points with just over a minute to play.
"They were the better team for 48 minutes," Head Coach Grant Gibbs said. "That's what happens in the game sometimes. That's what happens in life. You've got to understand you've got an opportunity to play again tomorrow, and we do. We know we've got a good opponent tomorrow. We need to turn our attention to that. It's not going to be easy, but we believe in the guys we have in there. We obviously need to make some adjustments and prepare for tomorrow. The beauty of the game is you get another chance the next day."
Oklahoma City outrebounded the Raptors 52-49 and outscored them in the paint 58-54, but only made six shots from beyond the arc compared to the 905's 17 threes.
Four Blue players had double-digit games with Jaylen Hoard leading the team with his 12 points, five rebounds and three assists. Cleveland and Rob Edwards followed close behind with 11 points apiece as Cleveland added six rebounds, three assists and two steals.
Thunder assignment player Aleksej Pokuà ¡evski chipped in seven points and three rebounds while two-way player Moses Brown produced eight points and eight rebounds. Off the bench, Omer Yurtseven dropped 10 points along with his seven rebounds.
The Raptors' Henry Ellenson led all scorers with 21 points, including five three-pointers while Alize Johnson registered a double-double of 19 points and 19 rebounds.
Oklahoma City returns to action tomorrow against Erie BayHawks at 6 p.m. CT inside The Field House.
