
Blue Crabs Shut out Patriots 7-0

Bridgewater, NJ - The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs (21-30) defeated the Somerset Patriots (29-21) 7-0 at TD Bank Ballpark on Friday evening.
The Blue Crabs took a 2-0 lead in the top of the second inning on a run-scoring wild pitch and an RBI single by Angelys Nina.
Southern Maryland added three runs to the lead in the top of the sixth inning on a solo home run by Devon Rodriguez (2), a run-scoring wild pitch, and an RBI single by Edwin Garcia to make the score 5-0.
Jon Griffin's solo home run (5) in the top of the seventh inning increased the lead to 6-0. Griffin struck again in the top of the eighth inning with an RBI single for a 7-0 advantage.
Brandon Cumpton (4-3) picked up the win, scattering five hits and striking out five batters in seven scoreless innings pitched. Trevor Foss (2-4) suffered the loss, allowing five earned runs on eight hits in 5.2 innings pitched.
