Blue Crabs Reveal Top Promotions for 2015 Season

WALDORF, MD - For as much attention as the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs have garnered for their Opening Day plans (see:#FreeTheHermit), the best part about their promotional schedule is that the April 24 opener is just one of 70 home games. Over the coming weeks, the Blue Crabs will be breaking down the top 25 promotions for the 2015 season in a five-part series. While it may be customary for a team to reveal their groundbreaking promotions in descending order, the Blue Crabs organization is excited to reveal the list that the team has decided to start with the biggest promotions planned for the 2015 season.

No. 1 - "Home, Sweet Homers" (Select Friday and Saturday home games during 2015 season) - House Giveaway

Under the slogan of "Wanna Win A House?," the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs are prepared to give away up to 20 houses during the 2015 regular season. Fans are invited to register to enter the promotion at Regency Furniture Stadium on game day and one lucky fan will be randomly selected for each Friday and Saturday game throughout the season (beginning on Opening Day). The selected entrant will then be eligible to win a house (valued at $300,000) if a Blue Crabs player hits a home run through a target during a designated inning. Fans are able to gain additional entries into each night's contest by purchasing a 2015 Season Ticket Plan or the "House Party Ticket Plan" which includes tickets to every Friday and Saturday home game throughout the season.

No. 2 - Winning Inning Night (July 31, 2015) - Giving away $10,000 every inning presented by Maryland Lottery

Have you ever gone to a baseball game and thought: "This is fun, but wouldn't it be a lot more exciting knowing that I could win a large sum of cash between every inning - For the fans who personally identified with that question, we have the perfect game for you. Fans can enter the contest at the July 31 game and are then eligible to be randomly selected a specified inning's representative. If the Blue Crabs complete the required "baseball action" (e.g. double-play, triple, etc.), that inning's representative will win $10,000! With the team giving away up to $90,000 over the course of the game, you will not want to miss out!

No. 3 - Opening Day (April 24, 2015) - #FreeTheHermit, introducing the Southern Maryland Hermit Crabs

In response to the recent outpouring of support for the downtrodden hermit crab species, the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs have recently announced that they will be dedicating their April 24 Opening Day game to the friendly crustacean. Most notably, the team has announced that it will drop the "Blue Crabs" team name in favor of the "Southern Maryland Hermit Crabs" title for the first game of the upcoming season. Additionally, the team will wear specially designed "Hermit Crabs" jerseys that will be part of the jersey auction taking place during the game. The first 1,000 fans at Regency Furniture Stadium for the April 24 game will receive a magnet schedule presented by Community Bank of the Chesapeake as well as a plastic hermit crab figurine in honor of the "Hermitgate" movement. Not a fan of the crustacean community? Don't worry, the team will still host its first all-you-can-eat crab feast of the season for just $40 per person.

No. 4 - Pack Your Bags Friday Night (Friday home games during the 2015 season) - Vacation giveaways

When is the last time you had to pack a suitcase to go to a Blue Crabs game? For the first time in team history, the Blue Crabs will be giving away a vacation to one lucky family on EVERY Friday home game during the 2015 season. Entries for each Friday night will be available on the official Blue Crabs website, and entrants are required to be at the respective game to be eligible to win. The randomly selected winner will be escorted by a limo to the destination to begin their vacation immediately after the game!

No. 5 - Money Drop (August 28, 2015) - The fan-favorite promotion returns courtesy of Maryland Lottery

The fan-favorite Money Drop promotion is back! The Money Drop promotion will once again see a helicopter dropping specially numbered balls on the field after the game. Fans who purchase a spot on the field will then be invited to pick a ball off of the field and return it to the designated redemption table. The numbered balls will then be matched with their associated prize and participants will be eligible to win up to $100!

About the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs The Blue Crabs play 140 regular season games in the Atlantic League, considered the highest level of Minor League Baseball. Atlantic League players are "Major League-ready" and over the last 16 years, more than 600 players have advanced from Atlantic League clubs to Major League organizations, making the Atlantic League a preferred route for experienced players to be scouted by Major League Baseball.
