Blue Crabs Fall Down Early and Lose to Bluefish

(Bridgeport CT, September 19th 2015) ---Southern Maryland came into play tonight having outhit their opponents in three straight games. Besides outhitting Southern Maryland 7-5, Bridgeport also scored two early runs and beat the Blue Crabs 5-2.

Bryan Sabatella singled, and Josh Prince walked to put two runners on base. CJ Retherford stepped to the plate, and ripped a double to score Sabatella, and Prince to make it 2-0.

Southern Maryland tied the game in the top of the third. Antone DeJesus scored on a Casey Stevenson sacrifice fly. Later in the inning, Zach Wilson lashed a single to center to score Fred Lewis to tie the game at 2-2.

RHP Tim Sexton's night was finished after three innings of work, as RHP Jake Hale came out of the bullpen. Jake allowed three runs on four hits three innings of work.

Bridgeport went on to score three unanswered runs from the fourth to the fifth innings. In the bottom of the fourth, Juan Martinez climbed in with two runners on base, and roped a single into center to score Retherford, and Andres Rodriguez to make it 4-2. In the last of the fifth, Josh Prince would come around to score on an error committed by Fred Lewis to bring the score to its' final of 5-2.

RHP Scott Ames, and RHP Patrick Mincey eached pitched two scoreless innings for Bridgeport out of the bullpen. CJ Retherford, and Andres Rodriguez each had two hits for Bridgeport. LHP Robert Carson picked up the win on the hill for the Bluefish, as he threw seven innings, allowing two runs on four hits, and striking out five.

The finale, and final game of the season for the Blue Crabs will take place tomorrow afternoon at Harbor Yard. The first pitch is set for 1:35 P.M. LHP Matt Iannazzo (5-11, 4.81) will toss for Bridgeport, while RHP Shaun Garceau (4-6, 5.12) will start for Southern Maryland.
