
Blue Crabs Down Patriots 5-2

Somerset Patriots News Release
Bridgewater, NJ - The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs defeated the Somerset Patriots 5-3 before a season high 8,065 fans at TD Bank Ballpark on Saturday evening.
The Blue Crabs took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning on a solo home run by right fielder Jamar Hill (11).
Southern Maryland added a run in the top of the fifth inning. Designated hitter Ben Harrison doubled and later scored on an RBI single by left fielder Shaun Cumberland to make the score 2-0.
Somerset cut the lead in half with a run in the bottom of the fifth inning. Catcher Jason Belcher singled and later scored on an RBI double by shortstop Iggy Suarez.
The Blue Crabs answered with two runs in the top of the sixth inning. First baseman Eric Crozier and catcher Christian Lopez both singled and advanced on a sacrifice bunt. Both runners came around to score on center fielder Jeremy Owens' two-run double to make the score 4-1.
The Patriots made it 4-2 on a solo home run by designated hitter Josh Pressley (21) in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Southern Maryland once again extended the lead with a run in the top of the seventh inning. Hill tripled and later scored on a sacrifice fly by third baseman Casey Benjamin to make the score 5-2.
Somerset added a run in the bottom of the ninth inning on a solo home run by catcher Jason Belcher (6) for the 5-3 final.
Blue Crabs starter Dan Reichert (15-8) picked up the win, allowing two runs on seven hits and seven strikeouts in 7.2 innings pitched. Patriots starter Brian Adams (2-2) suffered the loss, allowing four runs on eight hits and nine strikeouts in six innings pitched. Jim Ed Warden earned his 25th save of the season.
The Somerset Patriots 2010 Season presented by Ford will continue at home on Sunday when the Patriots take on the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs at 5:05 pm. The game includes Camouflage Caps (1st 2,000 Fans) courtesy of Nissan and Veterans of America Day.
