Blue Coats Fall to Vipers in Game 1 of NBA G League Finals

On Tuesday, the 2022 NBA G League Finals tipped off, with the Delaware Blue Coats falling to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers 145-128 in the first game of a best-of-three series.

The Coats fell behind early, an unusual occurrence for the Eastern Conference champions this season, after they finished a competitive first quarter was very competitive with only a one point advantage. By halftime, the Vipers were up by 12.

Key Players

Patrick McCaw

In the absence of Charlie Brown Jr. and Charles Bassey, two of the Coats' most productive rebounders this season, McCaw served as the team's go-to option at center. He performed well in his out-of-position role, grabbing nine rebounds and scoring 24 points. He also added two steals and three blocks.

Harrison was the team's primary ball-handler of the night, running the offense and dishing out six assists. He also put up 21 points of his own, while registering three steals and two blocked shots on the defensive end.

Up Next

The Blue Coats will have to win two straight games in order to capture the G League Finals championship. Their next game is home on Thursday, April 14, at 8:00 p.m. If they win, then game three will be forced and played in Rio Grande Valley on Saturday, April 16.
