WINNIPEG, MB - The Winnipeg Blue Bombers are pleased to announce that they have signed import defensive end Odell Willis to a contract extension.
Willis (6-2, 255, West Georgia, DOB: December 28, 1987 in Meridian, Mississippi) has been a force on the defensive line since being acquired in a trade with the Calgary Stampeders in 2009. He finished both 2009 and 2010 third in the league in sacks with 10 and 11 respectively and added four forced fumbles this season. In two seasons in the league, Willis has racked up 51 tackles and 21 sacks with both Calgary and Winnipeg.
"We are very excited to be able to secure a key piece of our defense for years to come. We feel our defensive line is one of the best in the league and Odell has shown how dominant he can be in his short time in this league," said Vice-President and General Manager Joe Mack.
Willis said, "This team has always shown faith in me and I love playing in front of these fans. I believe we have built a solid foundation and I'm definitely looking forward to being a Blue Bomber for many years to come."
