WINNIPEG, MB - East division all-star running back Fred Reid will be in the Blue Bomber backfield once again next season. Reid re-signed with the Winnipeg Football Club today.

As per team policy, details of the agreement are not disclosed.

Reid (5-8, 185, Mississippi State '04, DOB: Mar. 16, 1982 in Tampa, FL) took over the starting running back position midway through last season and proved not only to be a capable back, but a division all-star at the position.

"Fred Reid proved to be a dynamic playmaker last season. We look forward to getting the ball in his hands in a variety of ways allowing him to use his physical gifts," said Blue Bomber head coach Mike Kelly.

The third year running back out of Mississippi State backed up Charles Roberts for the first part of last season before claiming the starting role and earning the majority of the carries. His first game as a starter came on Sept. 7, at the Banjo Bowl in Winnipeg.

In only eight starts and 101 carries, Reid amassed 709 yards along the ground, and an eye-popping seven yards-per-carry average.

Reid has also been a primary special teams contributor. Last season Reid ranked second on the team in all-purpose yards with 1,395 - largely due to his explosive plays on kickoff and punt returns. In addition, Reid has seven special teams tackles, placing him ninth on the club in that category - not bad for an offensive playmaker.

Reid originally signed with the Blue Bombers as a free agent in April of 2007.
