Jarious Jackson Agrees to Extension with Leos

The BC Lions Football Club announced late today that quarterback Jarious Jackson has agreed to terms on a contract extension. Terms of the deal were not released.

"Jarious has been effective in his role with the Lions and we expect him to be a contributor in the 2009 season," said Lions GM and head coach Wally Buono. "I believe this extension further strengthens the quarterback position," added Buono.

Jackson will take to the field for his fifth campaign in Black and Orange after coming to the club as a free agent in 2005. The Notre Dame grad was good on 158 of 288 passing attempts for 2,164 yards and 17 touchdowns in 2008 and added 362 rushing yards on 63 carries with two TD's.

"I have truly enjoyed my time here as a Lion and I have made BC my home, so I'm pleased to get this contract done and I'm looking forward to helping the team win another championship," said Jackson.

Jarious was named the CFL Offensive Player of the Week after throwing for 340 yards and five touchdowns versus Winnipeg in Week 3 last season.
