Winnipeg Blue Bombers News Release
WINNIPEG, MB - The Winnipeg Blue Bombers announce that import linebacker Derrick Doggett has agreed to a contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers of the National Football League, as per the NFL window.
The Winnipeg Football Club congratulates Derrick and wishes him well in his pursuit with the Steelers.
Doggett signed with the Blue Bombers as a free agent on July 21, 2009. He established himself as a force on special teams in 2009, but also proved he can be a solid linebacker as well. He closed out the 2009 campaign fourth in the league in special teams tackles (28), while also accumulating nine defensive tackles, one interception and one forced fumble, in 15 games.
"Derrick came in and was a real demon on special teams for us, while also chipping in on defence when his opportunity came. We wish him the best moving forward with Pittsburgh," said interim VP of Football Operations Ross Hodgkinson.
