WINNIPEG, MB - The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have announced that it has signed free agent non-import safety Cauchy Muamba. As per team policy, details of the agreement are not disclosed.
"We are very pleased to lock up a Canadian player with Cauchy's ability and potential. We feel he will add immediate depth to our roster and also an added locker room presence with his brother Henoc already in our organization and a big part of our defence," said Vice-President and General Manager Joe Mack.
Muamba (5-11, 196, St. Francis Xavier, DOB: May 8, 1987 in Kinshasa, Congo) was originally drafted 34th overall by the B.C. Lions in the 2010 CFL Draft. His breakout season came in 2012 - his third in the CFL - when he became the Lions' starting safety, seeing action in 17 of 18 regular season games as well as the Western Final. He finished the year with three pass knockdowns, one forced fumble and 41 tackles to rank sixth on the club, two interceptions, while adding nine more tackles on special teams.
