Williamsport Crosscutters News Release

Williamsport rallied to take the lead in the eighth inning, but Jeb Stefan blew the save in the bottom of the ninth, as Shawn Pleffner won it on a walk-off hit to the wall in center field.

The Cutters held a 3-1 lead going into the bottom of the ninth, but Stefan walked the leadoff hitter and allowed subsequent RBI knocks to Carlos Alvarez and Pleffner to blow his first save of the year.

Tyler Greene went 3-for-4 with a home run and a double, while Diego Gonzalez and Logan Moore both drove in runs.

Auburn took the lead in the third on a solo-blast from Wander Ramos on Cutters starter Josh Warner.

Warner finished the day with one run allowed in five innings of work.

After Steven Inch pitched two sterling innings of relief, the Cutters took the lead in the eighth. Mitch Walding hit a triple off the fence in right-center and was brought home on a sac fly by Logan Moore.

Tyler Greene then hammered his first home run of the season to give Williamsport a 2-1 lead.

Diego Gonzalez would add to that lead in the ninth, lining a single to left to score Brian Pointer for the insurance run.

But Stefan could not hold the lead as the Cutters drop to 6-5 on the year and two games back of Auburn out of first place.

Williamsport will try to avenge the heartbreaker Friday night. First pitch against the Doubledays is at 7:05. Every Cutters game can be heard on ESPN Radio 104.1 FM, ESPN 1050 AM, or online at crosscutters.com
