Blowfish To Honor Gaston Dixie Pre-Majors SC State Champions Wednesday

Columbia, S.C. (July 22, 2014) - The Columbia Blowfish announced today that they will host the 2014 South Carolina State Champion, Gaston Dixie Pre-Majors baseball team on Wednesday, July 23 at Capital City Stadium.

The Gaston Dixie Pre-Majors (ages 15-17) team captured the state championship last week in Westminster, S.C. defeating North Charleston 4-3, marking the first state title in Gaston Dixie Youth Baseball's 30-year history. In doing so, the team qualified for the Dixie Youth/Pre-Majors World Series, which begins July 26.
The team will be honored in Wednesday's pre-game festivities before the Blowfish take on the Coastal Plain League Western Division leaders, the Florence Redwolves. Gaston head coach, Jason Smith will be accompanied by his championship team as he throws out the ceremonial first pitch.
The Blowfish will also be raffling off several Blowfish team autographed baseballs throughout the game tomorrow night. Proceeds will go directly to the Gaston Dixie Pre-Majors team to help fund their trip to the World Series in Chipley, F.L. next week.
