Lexington County Blowfish News Release
LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C - The Blowfish strung together four hits coupled with a sacrifice fly to plate three runs in the bottom of the third inning against the Florence RedWolves.
That would be all the production they would need seal the home opening win.
Wil Crowe (University of South Carolina) was the headliner early, making his first start coming off of Tommy John Surgery. He would allow1 hit and 1 run over two innings of work.
Florence started the scoring in the top of the second with an Andrew Selby (George Washington) RBI single plating Bobby Campbell (George Washington).
Lexington County would answer right back in the home half of the second with a leadoff walk from Dalton Duty (Valdosta State) and then back to back singles from Derek Olenchuk (Newberry) and Brandon Johnson (University of Richmond).
Steve Sada (Miami, OH) would follow up with a sacrifice fly to plate Olenchuk and Jared Williams (South Carolina Landcaster) would single home Johnson.
The three runs in the second would be the difference tonight.
The RedWolves would plate one in the sixth to cut the lead to 3-2 but Trevor Bradley (Georgia Gwinnett) would nail it down for Lexington County tossing a 1-2-3 top of the ninth.
The Blowfish head to Grayson Stadium tomorrow night for their first matchup against the newest CPL expansion franchise; the Savannah Bananas. First pitch is slated for 7:05 and will be broadcast on z93.1-FM The Lake.
