Lexington County had a man reach base in every inning tonight en route to a 14 to 1 victory over Martinsville.
The Blowfish smashed a season high 16 hits two of which were mammoth home runs by Brett Auckland (Presbyterian) in the third and Adam Yacek (Miami, OH). It was Auckland's first of the season and Yacek's third.
Kyle Carruthers (UNC Asheville) reached base safely five times tonight, scored twice, and plated two runs from the eight hole.
Lexington County got solid pitching top to bottom from Ryan Hedrick (Presbyterian), Katon Harwood (Furman), Blake Hamilton (North Greenville), and Tate Gillespie (Navarro).
For the Blowfish it's their fourth straight victory after dropping the season opener in Gastonia to the Grizzlies in 11 innings. The win coupled with an Asheboro loss tonight launches Lexington County into a tie for first place in the Western Division standings.
After a night off Lexington County travels out to Florence on Monday night to take the second game of the season series from the RedWolves. First pitch is 7:05 from Sparrow Stadium; pregame on z93.1 The Lake begins at 6:50.
