Sold out Crowd at Sims
June 4, 2016 - Coastal Plain League (Coastal Plain)
Gastonia Grizzlies News Release
Both the Grizzlies and Wilmington Sharks came in needing a win with both at 1-3. Unfortunately, it would be the visiting Sharks coming away with a 2-1 win, dropping the Grizzlies to 1-4 on the season. No score through the first 4 innings as Gastonia's Josh Hiatt and Mike Castellani were both sharp, but Alec Bohm's homer to left and Ward Coleman's RBI single gave the Sharks a 2-run lead in the 5th. Alex Reynolds scored on a Harris Yett Sacrifice Fly to end the 5th at 2-1, but that's how it would end as Ryan Kelly came in to shut the door. The Grizzlies had a packed house with standing room only as it was another sold out crowd here at Sims Legion Park!
Looking ahead on the schedule, the Grizzlies will travel to McNair Field on Monday to take on the Forest City Owls, before returning home to Gastonia for a Tuesday Doubleheader with the Martinsville Mustangs. Game 1 of that twinbill is set for 6pm... Wilmington has quite the busy schedule ahead of them, with 13 games in 15 days, beginning with Monday's visit to Fleming Stadium, where they'll square off with the Wilson Tobs. The Sharks head back to the Shark Tank on Tuesday, where Buck Hardee Field will play host to the Petersburg Generals. Then, it's off to Morehead City for the Marlins on Wednesday.
