January 27, 2025 - Indoor Football League (IFL)
Green Bay Blizzard News Release

The Green Bay Blizzard have re-signed K Andrew Mevis for the 2025 season.

Andrew Mevis (5-11 205) is a Warsaw, Indiana native entering his second year in the Indoor Football League and his second season with the Green Bay Blizzard. He joined the team after the first few weeks of the 2024 season but served as the kicker for 15 games. This will be his first full season in the IFL.

Before beginning his professional career, Mevis was the kicker for Iowa State in 2021. He had an incredible season, going 20 for 23 on field goals, including 10 for 13 from 40 yards or longer, and 32-of-32 on point after attempts. He tied the school record for consecutive field goals made (15) and broke the record for most 40 yards or longer field goals made (10). Because of this, Mevis was honored with a Third Team Phil Steele All-American Kicker selection and an Honorable Mention All-Big 12 Kicker.

Following his senior year, Mevis had brief stints with the NFL's Jacksonville Jaguars and XFL's St. Louis Battlehawks. Afterward, the kicker explored other opportunities. Mevis signed with the Green Bay Blizzard on April 17, 2024. Despite joining the team a few weeks into the season, Mevis scored 131 points (third among IFL kickers), kicked 60% on field goals (second best in the IFL), made 82% of his extra points, made four deuces, and two dropkicks. In addition, he was awarded the IFL Week 13 Special Teams Player of the Week after kicking a game-winning field goal on the road over the Massachusetts Pirates.

The Green Bay Blizzard roster is rounding out while the season quickly approaches. As it inches closer, the players share a similar message. Despite a historic season in 2024, they are confident and ready to push themselves and the team even further. Mevis recently said "Don't count out 16. Let's go." Sixteen is a reference to the number he wore last season.

The Blizzard will start 2025 on the road on March 21 when the team battles the Quad City Steamwheelers, a team they faced four times in the last season, including the playoffs. The matchup is sure to be an exciting one! Be sure to stay up to date with all things Green Bay Blizzard by following along on Facebook, Instagram, and X.
