Green Bay Blizzard News Release

Green Bay, WI – The Green Bay Blizzard is set to square off against the Wilkes Barre/Scranton Pioneers tonight at the Resch Center to open their home schedule. Both teams are 1-0 entering tonight's game with kick off at 7:30. The Blizzard is coming off their first road win in team history by defeating the San Diego Riptide 67-49, while the Pioneers defeated the Columbus Wardogs 38-33. The Blizzard lead the offensive categories with a scoring average of 67 points a game, while the Pioneers lead the defensive categories giving up only 33 points a game.

The Blizzard have two main weapons in QB Chris Greisen and OS Randall Lane with the pair connecting on 4 touchdown passes last week. Greisen gets the nod as starter this week while playing in front of the home town crowd.

With a win at home, the Blizzard would be 2-0 for the first time in franchise history and have their first two game win streak. The Blizzard need a win to keep pace with Midwest Division leaders, Quad City Steamwheelers who are 2-0 and entering this week's game against the Tennessee Valley Vipers.

After dismantling the San Diego Riptide last week, the Blizzard still have not gained respect throughout the af2 as the new coaches poll coming out and the Blizzard not being part of the top 12 in the league.

The Blizzard made a couple of roster moves for tonight's game. WR/LB Tony Ebeling (Northern Michigan) was placed on re-assignment and WR/LB/DB Quentin Ware-Bey (Edinboro) was activated from Short Term Injured Reserve.

Tonight's game is Time Warner Magnet Schedules Night with 2,500 schedules to be handed out at the door.

Tickets for tonight's game are still available by calling Ticketstar at 1-800-895-0071.
