Green Bay Blizzard News Release
The Green Bay Blizzard return home to the Resch Center after a two-game road trip to take on the Frisco Fighters this Saturday night at 6:05pm on Kids Night, presented by Aurora BayCare, Kids Dental Experts and 101.1 WIXX.
The Blizzard, who are 0-3 to start the season, are coming off of a 36-18 loss last week to the Iowa Barnstormers. In the loss, quarterback Jack Sheehan made his first appearance of the season, going 11/19 on 75 passing yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions. His go-to target was wide receiver Keshaun Taylor with 35 receiving yards and one touchdown on four receptions. On the defensive side of the ball, defensive back Momodou Mbye tallied 10 tackles and linebacker CJ Thornton racked up six tackles with two tackles for loss and one sack.
For Frisco, they enter the contest sitting at 2-1, most recently upending the Tucson Sugar Skulls 56-34. The Fighters were led by former Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Blake Sims, who went 10/11 with 125 passing yards and two touchdowns. Wide receiver Jerminic Smith continued his gaudy numbers to start the season, putting together a six-reception performance with 92 receiving yards and one touchdown. Former Bismarck Bucks running back Justin Rankin also had himself a day with 81 rushing yards on nine attempts and three touchdowns.
This is the first time Green Bay and Frisco have met in league history, as the Fighters joined the league in 2020. The two teams were slated to play to kick off the 2020 season, before the canceled COVID-19 season. The Blizzard open a three-game home stand starting with the game on Saturday, while the Fighters will start a two-game road trip.
