Blizzard Clinch Division Title for Second Straight Year

The Indoor Football League has announced that the Green Bay Blizzard are the 2011 Great Lakes Division Champions. A Green Bay Blizzard victory in Friday's regular-season finale against Chicago will give the Blizzard an opportunity to host the United Cup Championship game in Green Bay.

The Green Bay/Chicago rivalry is always an exciting match-up and this Friday's game at the Resch Center is no different. The game also has important implications for the IFL's United Cup Championship Game. If the Blizzard can reach the United Cup game, a win against Chicago would go a long ways to improve their chances of hosting the championship game.

The division title gives Green Bay (10-3) the United Conference's number 2 seed behind Great Plains champion Sioux Falls (13-0) and both teams will have first round byes. Atlantic Division winner Reading (8-5) has clinched the No. 3 seed.

The Friday, June 10 match-up against Chicago will be an early Fathers Day Celebration at the Resch Center as WBAY TV-2 and the Blizzard will be giving away Golf Umbrellas to the first 1,000 men 21 & over. It is also a Bud Light Fun Night: Buy one/Get one 30oz. Bud Light.

Green Bay will host a Conference Semi-Final game at the Resch Center on Saturday, June 25 at 7:30pm. The opponent will be the highest remaining seed after the Quarterfinals are played the previous week. The game on June 25th will be Fan Appreciation Night and the first 2,500 fans attending will receive a free gift from the Blizzard.
