Bakersfield Blitz News Release

Bakersfield, Calif. - The Bakersfield Blitz have made several roster moves today in a little fine- tuning for their Friday Night match up against the Tulsa Talons (3-2) this weekend. The most noteworthy was the acquisition of five-year Arena Football League WR/LB Maurice Bryant.

Bryant, 30, spent four seasons with the Arizona Rattlers and last season with the Las Vegas Gladiators in the AFL. The University of Houston product also played with the Amsterdam Admirals in 2001 and the Barcelona Dragons in 1999, assigned to NFL Europe by the Tennessee Titans.

The native of Van Nuys, California will make his af2 debut tomorrow night against Tulsa. Bryant's best two seasons as a pro were in 2000 and 2001 with the Rattlers. During that span he caught 125 passes for 1,797 yards and 38 touchdowns.

Blitz QB Chad Elliott was lifted from his two-week suspension today and placed on Left Squad. Left Squad means he will be ineligible to participate in games, practices or team meetings for the remainder of this season and the playoffs. If he re-signs with Bakersfield, he can start the 2006 season fresh, but if he decides not to play for Bakersfield next season, he cannot be reassigned to any other team in the af2 until the one year anniversary of his designation - May 12th, 2006. Left Squad only applies to the af2. In other transaction news, WR/DB Deondre Alexander was placed on recallable reassignment and WR/LB David Bautista was activated from the injured list and placed on reassignment.

Friday's game is Guaranteed Win Night. If the Blitz don't defeat the Tulsa Talons, everyone at the game will get a free ticket of equal or lesser value to the Blitz home game next weekend against rival San Diego. Should the Blitz come up short that night as well, the promotion will continue so that everyone that comes to Friday's game against the Talons is guaranteed to see a victory.

In addition, the first 2,000 fans through the turnstiles will get a free Blitz Dashboard Memo Pad. These handy note takers can be affixed to the inside of your car, easing the process of remembering life- altering thoughts or important information that always come to us while sitting behind the wheel in traffic (or that license plate of the car that just cut you off). The memo pads are sponsored by Blitz flagship station KGEO "Hot Talk" AM 1230.

Lights, Camera, Blitz!

This week's game is the first Bright House Networks televised game of the season and will air live on Bright House Cable Ch.21 at 7:00 p.m. Each home game for the remainder of the season will simulcast on KGEO AM 1230 and on Bright House Networks. A replay of each game can be seen the following day at 10:30 a.m.
