
Blitz Announce Summer Excellence; Reading Programs

Bakersfield, Calif. - Bakersfield Sports Entertainment and the Bakersfield Blitz have announced the return of two exciting summer programs.
First, the Blitz Summer Excellence Program returns as it rewards students for their academic achievements with complimentary terrace tickets to the Friday, May 20th game as the Blitz battle the San Diego Riptide. The program, which started in 2004, is also a great reward as thousands of Kern County students finish their California statewide testing. The complimentary child terrace ticket can be redeemed with the purchase of an adult ticket at the Rabobank Arena box office. To help encourage learning throughout the summer, Kern County Library's 2005 "Dragons, Dreams & Daring Deeds" program, sponsored by KGET- TV 17 and The Bakersfield Blitz, kicks off on Monday, June 13th and runs until Friday, July 30th. This popular reading program hits Kern County and gives children the chance to get free Blitz tickets for reading. Any child who reads ten (10) books prior to Friday, July 15th will receive a voucher good for two (2) complimentary terrace tickets to the Blitz regular season finale on Friday, July 15th against the Bossier- Shreveport Battle Wings. Children who read ten (10) books after July 15th will receive a voucher good for two (2) complimentary terrace tickets to any regular season 2005-2006 Condors home game during the month of October. Friday night football in Bakersfield continues this weekend as the Blitz take on the Tulsa Talons at 7:00 p.m. on May 13th. That night, the Blitz are guaranteeing a victory against their West Division rivals, and if the Blitz don't defeat Tulsa that night, everyone in attendance will get a free ticket to their next home game the following week against rival San Diego. The first 2,000 fans through the doors will also get a Blitz Dashboard Memo Pad, courtesy of KGEO "Hot Talk" AM 1230.
