Oklahoma City Blazers News Release

Oklahoma City, Okla. – The Oklahoma City Blazers signed forwards Scott Hosaluk and Ryan Haggarty, head coach Doug Sauter announced today.

Hoasluk, a 5-11, 195-pound native of NIpawin, Sask. skated the last two seasons with the Nipawin Hawks of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League. Last season, he totaled 46 points (17-29-46) while serving 63 penalty minutes in 55 games. During his two-year stint in Nipawin, he amassed 102 points (34-68-102) while serving 134 penalty minutes in 102 games.

Haggarty, a teammate of Hosaluk's in Nipawin last season, is a 5-10, 195-pounder from Oak River, Manitoba. Last season with Nipawin, he amassed 19 points (9-10-19) while serving 200 penalty minutes in 50 games played. His 200 minutes was good for second on the team. Prior to his tenure in Nipawin, Haggarty played parts of three seasons with the Prince Albert Raiders of the Western Hockey League. In 90 games in Prince Albert, he picked up nine points (2-7-9) and served 104 penalty minutes.

"I'm looking forward to seeing what these players have to offer," said Sauter. "Tyler Harris, the head coach in Nipawin, suggested these players to me. Hosaluk was second on his club in assists last season, while Haggarty showed some grit and the ability to produce a few points."

The addition of Hosaluk and Haggarty brings the total number of players signed for the 2004-05 season to five. They join goaltenders Boyd Ballard and Sean Connors as well as first-year defenseman Joel Pullman on the Blazers roster.

The Blazers will begin play in the team's 13th season in the CHL in late October. The 60-game schedule will be released pending completion in mid-August.
