Kamloops, BC - The Kamloops Blazers have announced their leadership group for the remainder of the 2009-2010 season, naming Ryan Funk as the team's captain. Funk, who was acquired from the Vancouver Giants in November, has played in 259 WHL games with Saskatoon, Vancouver and Kamloops. In 17 games with the Blazers this season, the Morden, MB native has 2 goals and 11 points in 17 games.

CJ Stretch will remain as an alternate captain and Bronson Maschmeyer will also wear an "A" for the remainder of the season. Stretch, a 5th year forward with the Blazers, has worn a letter for the last two seasons. Maschmeyer, acquired from Vancouver before the season, will wear a letter for the first time in his career.

"Ryan has been through winning organizations in Saskatoon and Vancouver," Head Coach Guy Charron stated. "He is one of our most experienced players and has been tremendous on and off the ice since joining the hockey club. He is up for the challenge and will be a great leader for our younger players," Charron concluded.
