Kamloops Blazers News Release

This Friday night at ISC the Blazers will host a big night for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation with the help of Animas Canada. Former Blazer Jordan DePape, who was forced to end his season with the Blazers in November due to a second shoulder surgery, will return to Kamloops for the night.

Friday night's game is also a huge game on the ice between the Blazers and Rockets - the two teams continue their heated rivalry down the stretch as they battle for the BC Division. The Blazers and Rockets will meet 5 times in the Blazers' final 14 games of the regular season. The Blazers defeated the Rockets at ISC on January 28th in a thrilling overtime comeback win.

For tickets to Friday's game, visit the Blazers Box Office which is open 9am-5pm this week, or call 250-828-3339 to charge by phone.

DePape Continues to Support JDRF

Jordan DePape was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes when he was just 12 years old but has never let it stop him from pursuing his dreams. He has since been an inspiration to many young children suffering from Type 1 diabetes and volunteered much of his spare time in his 4 seasons with the Blazers to the local JDRF.

Prior to Friday's game, DePape will speak to almost 100 local JDRF kids at Interior Savings Centre. There will also be a puck toss during the second intermission that will benefit JDRF and will include an autographed Jordan DePape jersey as a prize.

The last two summers, Jordan has embarked on the George Canyon & Friends Diabetes Heroes Tour. The five-city tour across Canada with country music star George Canyon encourages those living with Type 1 diabetes that anything is possible.

Animas Canada provides insulin pumps to those affected by diabetes. The pump is used to help regulate insulin levels depending on the different activities of the user. Jordan has received great support from Animas Canada over the past number of years.

Blazers Visit Giants Tonight

Tonight the Blazers head to Vancouver for a mid-week match up with the Giants. Game time is 7pm - catch the play by play from Jon Keen on Radio NL 610am or stream online from www.radionl.com.

The Blazers have won 4 games in a row and look to gain some ground on the Kelowna Rockets who sit 7 points ahead of the Blazers. This is the 5th meeting of the season between the Blazers and Giants.
