The 03-04 season saw him skate with the Rockford Ice Hogs, Quad City Mallards and Motor City . With the Mallards, he played with Blazers veteran Marty Standish. In 51 games between those teams, he scored 14 points (5-9-14) while serving 44 penalty minutes. Prior to turning pro, the 25-year old played two seasons with the Brantford Blast of the Ontario Hockey Association where he registered 62 points (20-42-62) in 57 games.

"He has all the skills needed to be the quarterback of our power play," said Sauter. "He can handle the puck, is a good skater and a good passer. I look for him to contribute offensively as well as make an impact on the defensive end. Marty highly recommends him and feels he can contribute to our hockey club."

Burgoyne joins veterans Tyler Fleck and Marty Standish on the 06-07 Blazers roster. The Blazers begin play in their historic 15th season in late October.
