Rocky Mountain Rage News Release
Broomfield, Colo. - Rocky Mountain Rage Hockey Head Coach Tracy Egeland will be in attendance tonight at the sixth annual Broomfield Relay for Life Cancer Walk. The Walk begins tonight at 5 p.m. and continues until Saturday morning at Broomfield High School (1 Eagle Way).
Relay for Life is an overnight event designed to celebrate survivors of cancer and raise money for the American Cancer Society. Teams walk or run laps, keeping one member on the track at all times. Egeland's team will begin their portion of the walk at 7 p.m. The entire event will begin with cancer survivors taking the first lap around the track - the Survivors' Victory Lap. A silent auction will also take place in conjunction with the relay.
"I'm proud to be even a small part of this event this weekend to show support," said Egeland. "I represent a whole team of players and staff who want to help in the battle for survival. Cancer affects millions of people every year, some of our staff included. We are just a small force in comparison, but even just one person can help."
Hundreds of luminaries displaying the names of those who have battled cancer will glow all night. Luminaries can be purchased with a $10 donation. For more information or to make a donation, contact www.broomfieldrelayersinfo@yahoo.com or go to www.cancer.org.
The Rage is slated to begin its inaugural season this October on the road. The Rage will begin play at home this November at the new, state-of-the-art Broomfield Event Center. The Rocky Mountain Rage is one of two expansion teams in the Central Hockey League's 17-team field. The Rage will join the Colorado Eagles, Oklahoma City Blazers and Wichita Thunder in the Northwest Division.
