
Blaze Recievers Set New AFL Record

SALT LAKE CITY - The Utah Blaze is the first team in the history of the AFL to have three receivers attain 1,500-plus receiving yards, 100-plus receptions and 20-plus touchdown receptions in the regular season.
The trio of Blaze receivers known by the team as the "Big Three" include WR HUEY WHITTAKER (6-5, 228- South Florida), WR AARON BOONE (6-3, 208, Kentucky) and WR JJ MCKLEVEY (6-3, 227, Clemson).
Whittaker led the receiving group after hauling in 126 receptions for 1,541 yards and 32 touchdowns. Whittaker also tied an AFL record for most receptions in a single-game with 20 against New Orleans on April 25th.
McKelvey brought in 121 receptions for 1,529 yards and a team-high 38 touchdowns in 2008. Boone tallied 135 catches for 1,527 yards and 23 touchdowns on the season.
The Blaze (6-10), winners of six of their last seven games, earned their first-ever home playoff game with a 62-45 win over the Arizona Rattlers in the final game of the regular season last week. Utah will host the Colorado Crush (6-10) Saturday at 2 p.m. (MT) at EnergySolutions Arena. The game will be televised on ESPN.
