
Blaze Prepare To Take On Division Rival Los Angeles

SALT LAKE CITY - The Utah Blaze (4-2) will take on the Western Division rival Los Angeles Avengers (3-2) on Friday, April 13 at EnergySolutions Arena at 7 p.m. The game will be heard on Utah's flagship station, 1280 The Zone, with KEVIN GRAHAM and SCOTT GARRARD calling the action.
"This week's game begins a very important stretch for us," said head coach/general manager DANNY WHITE. "Los Angeles is having a good season and the winner will be in first place in the Western Division. I don't have to tell the players the importance of divisional games."
This will mark the third meeting between the two teams where the Blaze leads the series at 2-0. Danny White is 11-3 against the Avengers in his head coaching career and 8-2 against Los Angeles head coach, ED HODGKISS.
Three-time Offensive Player of the Game, QB JOE GERMAINE, 155-for-222 passing (69.8%) so far this season. In the first six games, Germaine has thrown for a league-leading 1,975 yards and a league-leading 42 touchdowns with only three interceptions. Avenger QB SONNY CUMBIE is 128-for-200 (64.0%) passing for 1,339 yards, 23 touchdowns and only one interception.
Despite having sat out one of the first six games, WR SIAHA BURLEY is currently ranked No. 3 in the AFL in receiving yards (702) and is tied for No. 4 in touchdowns (16). On defense the Blaze are led by DB CLARENCE LAWSON who has recorded 32.5 tackles, five pass breakups and two forced fumbles.
The Avengers are led by LB/DB LONNIE FORD, who has rushed the ball 33 times this season for 91 yards. On defense, Los Angeles is led by DBs ARNOLD PARKER and DAMEN WHEELER. So far this season, Parker has recorded 35.0 total tackles and five pass breakups. Wheeler has tallied 21.0 tackles, three interceptions, eight pass breakups and three forced fumbles
1280 The Zone will broadcast the Utah Blaze Show on Wednesday night from 7-8 p.m. at Pat's Barbeque. SCOTT GARRARD will host the show along with guest appearances by assistant coach RON JAMES, WR SIAHA BURLEY, and FB CHRIS ROBINSON.
