Baltimore Blast News Release

Playoff Picture: With just nine games remaining in the regular season, the Blast is tied for second-place with a 14-7 record. Last week the team traveled to St. Louis and California, losing 9-7 to the Steamers and defeating the Cougars, 5-3. Heading into this weekend's games, no team has clinched a 2006 playoff berth. If the Blast wins both games against the KiXX this weekend, they will secure a spot in the playoffs. Should the Blast advance to the postseason, it will be the 11th time in 14 seasons the team has done so.

Neto Named MISL Offensive Player of the Month: Blast forward Adauto Neto was named MISL Offensive Player of the Month after leading the MISL with 12 points in February. Neto, who was also named Offensive Player of the Month in November, scored at least one goal in all six Blast games this month to lead his team to a 5-1 record. On February 17, he recorded two goals and two assists in the Blast's 6-5 overtime win over the Chicago Storm to score the 100th point of his career. Neto had three multi-goal games in the month and is on an 11-game point-scoring streak. He ranks second in the League with 45 points (28 goals and 17 assists) in 21 games this season. In addition to his 12 points for the Blast, Neto scored two goals in the 2006 MISL All-Star Game (February 11). A 2003-04 MISL All-Rookie Team selection, he has been named MISL Offensive Player of the Week four times this season. The Blast is 14-7 on the season and 14-4 when Neto records at least one point.

Tschantret on Pace to Reach 1,000 Points: Lee Tschantret is on pace to become the 15th player in League history to record 1,000 points in his career. Tschantret, a 15-year veteran of professional indoor soccer, has 986 points (387 goals, 298 assists) and 15 points (six goals, nine assists) this season. He played in the 500th game of his 15-season professional indoor soccer career when the Blast played the California Cougars on December 18th and leads the MISL in all-time penalty minutes with 734. He also leads the Blast in PIM with 214 since he joined the team for the 2000-01 season.
