St. Louis Steamers News Release

ST. LOUIS - This afternoon, The Major Indoor Soccer League announced that Steamers' goalkeeper Brett Phillips has been awarded with the Goalkeeper of the Month for the month of February. This is Brett's first MISL monthly honor this season. However he is a four-time MISL Goalkeeper of the Week honoree (Feb. 6, Dec. 27, Dec. 19, and Nov. 28). In 1999 while playing for the Portland Pythons, Phillips was named MISL Goalkeeper of the year.

Phillips, a 37 year old Tampa Bay native, was a major part of the Steamers' perfect 4-0 February which included shutout against the Chicago Storm (Feb. 4th). Phillips also played for the winning MISL All-Star team in the 2006 MISL All-Star Game in Milwaukee where he assisted on a goal to fellow Steamer Shaun David.

Furthermore, Phillips had an MISL-low 4.04 goal against average in the month. He also has an incredible 3.66 goals against average in his MISL-leading 14 victories. Being part of the stingiest defenses in the MISL, Phillips helps out with the Steamers' 4.7 goals allowed per game. Phillips is the Steamers' primary goalkeeper and is second in the MISL in minutes played this season with 1,066.
