Firing on all cylinders:
The offense has been well rounded scoring 145 goals in 18 games this season. Tony Donatelli leads the team with 32 points. Lucas Roque leads the team with 19 goals scored while Pat Healey leads the team in assists with 18. Baltimore is far from being one sided as the defense has played just as well as the offense. Pat Healey leads the league with 52 blocks and Baltimore leads the league in average goals allowed per game (2.9). In net for the Blast, William Vanzela has recorded 4 shutouts this season with his most recent last weekend against Chicago. He leads the MASL in GAA (2.83) and save percentage (.815).
Team Depth:
In addition to the returning players, the Blast roster also includes eight newcomers. Offensively the Blast really show their team depth with 18 players who have recorded 2 or more points this season. During the first 18 games of the season the Blast have been able to average 8.1 goals per game.
The Competition- Harrisburg Heat:
The Heat enter at 1-17 after a 25-5 loss to the Baltimore Blast. Kenneth Fultz leads the Heat with 28 points from 16 goals and 12 assists. Tyler Witmer has also tallied 15 goals this season for 19 points. Timothy Mehl and Justin Johnson have both seen time in net for the Heat this season. The Heat are coached by Baltimore Blast Hall of Fame member Tarik Walker.
The Competition- Rochester Lancers:
The Rochester Lancers enter at 10-9 after an impressive overtime win in Syracuse. The Lancers offense is led by Mauricio Sales who has recorded 52 points this season off 39 goals and 13 assists. Defensively, Stephen Basso leads Chicago with 17 blocks while goalkeepers Joe Kapinos and Marcelo Moreira have split time in net this season. The Lancers have clinched a spot in the divisional round and will play a home and home series against the Syracuse Silver Knights beginning March 5th.
