Baltimore Blast: Saturday is the team's 2013-14 Season Opener

Rochester Lancers: This game will be the Lancer's Season Opener.

The Blast will kick off their 34th season of professional indoor soccer in Baltimore Saturday night against the Rochester Lancers. The Blast, who were the 2012-13 MISL Champions is anchored by 15 returners from last year's squad including Captain and 2012 MISL Defender of the Year, Mike Lookingland.

Leading by Example

Mike Lookingland, entering his team-high ninth season and 3rd year as captain is expected to be one of the Blasts biggest contributors defensively And offensively. For the second consecutive season, Lookingland was named MISL Defender of the Year and a MISL First Team selection. He was also tied 3rd for points on the Blast with Max Ferdinand . In addition to Lookingland and Ferdinand, Lucio Gonzaga, Tony Donatelli, and Aduato Neto were all ranked in the top 25 of the League in points . Defensively, the Blast welcomes back Pat Healey, a 2012-13 All-MISL Second Team selection and Goalie, William Vanzela, the 2012-13 Playoff MVP and on the MISL All-Rookie Team .

Welcome to the Blast

In addition to the returning players, the Blast roster also includes five newcomers. Forward Frederico Moojen, new to the Blast but not to the league played two seasons with the Wichita Wings. In his 2012-13 Season, Moojen was Wichita team captain, and led his team in points and goals. Keeping with tradition, the Blast bring in Two Maryland natives, Levi Houapeau and Drew Yates. Last, we welcome Daniel Carrera and Diego Zuniga, who both played on Costa Rica's National Futsal Team.

The Competition

The Lancers return Doug Miller and Mauricio Salles who were the top two leaders in the League in points for the 2012-13 Season. Miller, who led the league in goals (44) and points (102) was the MISL MVP last season . Salles, who was also named to the All-MISL First team earned 97 points and recorded 34 goals. Stephen Basso and Pedrinho also return after making the 2012-13 MISL All Rookie Team. The Lancers are coached by Josh Rife and this will be his first game as head coach.
