Game 3 Preview

November 26, 2014 - Major Arena Soccer League (MASL)
Syracuse Silver Knights News Release

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Syracuse Silver Knights (1-1, Eastern Division #2) will look to keep its unbeaten home record intact on Saturday, November 29th when they will host the Eastern Division leading Baltimore Blast (3-0, Eastern Division #1) at 7:00 p.m. EST at the Oncenter War Memorial Arena.

Saturday's contest is a rematch of the two sides' season opening battle on November 8th. The Blast beat the Knights 16-7 at the Royal Farms Arena in the first of four fixtures during the 2014-2015 Major Arena Soccer League Season. Max Ferdinand led the way for Baltimore with three goals on the night.

"We just need to not make mistakes and give the ball away," SSK Coach Tommy Tanner explained. "You just have to counter a team like Baltimore. We won't sit back. The plan is to get in behind and score goals."

Syracuse is coming off a strong response since its opening defeat. The Silver Knights bested the Ontario Fury 18-2 last Friday at the War Memorial. Kenardo Forbes scored a hat-trick and notched an assist in his season debut. Additionally, Captain Nelson Santana dealt out three helpers in the effort.

"We played very disciplined as a team." Tanner said. "Kenardo was very composed on the ball. He makes 3v2s happen, and that was something that was missing in our opening game."

Perhaps the most unexpected of stars was rookie forward Anthony Grant. The former Bowling Green striker scored his first career goal in front of the raucous home crowd.

"I was elated that I worked hard and scored that goal," Grant said. "I'll have to keep it up for this Saturday. It's going to be a really competitive game."

Coach Danny Kelly's team is off to an electric start to the campaign. The perennial contenders are 3-0 and have not conceded a goal since Slavisa Ubiparipovic's strike with 9:03 left in the second quarter of the Blast's first game. Baltimore enters Saturday's clash having shutout opponents for 129 straight minutes, including back-to-back clean sheets against the Harrisburg Heat, 27-0, and Detroit Waza Flo, 26-0.

The Silver Knights and Blast met four times during the 2013-2014 MISL regular season, with the Maryland side owning a 3-1 series advantage. The two teams played competitive games, with all four meetings being decided by five points or less. Baltimore was last on the War Memorial turf in Game One of the MISL Semifinals, earning 20-7 victory on March 7.

Be sure to take advantage of the Syracuse Silver Knights Thanksgiving ticket special. After a successful home opener the team has put together a #KnightsGiveThanksPromo offer for the 11/29 game against Baltimore. All regular priced tickets are $2.00 off or any 4-pack of tickets are $50 through the Silver Knights office only.

Friday's match will be broadcast live from the War Memorial on GoLiveSportsCast.com beginning at 7:00 p.m. EST with commentary by JP Chunga. The game will be available shortly after its completion as on-demand content.
