Blast Improves to 6-4 after Splitting Home-and-Home Series with the Wave
The Blast defeated the Milwaukee Wave, 8-5, Friday night in Milwaukee then lost, 7-6 in overtime, to the Wave Saturday night at 1st Mariner Arena. Giuliano Celenza led the Blast over the weekend with five goals and one assist. Friday night's win snapped an 11-game regular-season losing streak in Milwaukee. The last time the Blast won in Milwaukee was March 17, 2001 when the team beat the Wave, 22-16.
Celenza Named MISL Offensive Player of the Week: Blast forward Giuliano Celenza was named MISL Offensive Player of the Week after his six-point performance in two games last weekend. The teams have met twice already this season, with the Blast losing, 4-3, in Chicago on November 27th, then defeating the Storm, 6-3, in Baltimore on December 3rd. Last season the Storm went 4-1 against the Blast in the regular season.
Cabral Out for Remainder of Season: In a repeat of last season, Blast forward Denison Cabral will miss the remainder of the season with a torn ACL in his left knee. Cabral left last season's November 12 game (vs. the Wave) with a right knee injury and missed the rest of the season after undergoing surgery. He returned to the playing field for this year's season opener (11/11) after missing 364 days of game action. In his first game back this season, Cabral recorded one goal and one assist, helping the Blast to a 9-4 win over the California Cougars. In eight games this season, he recorded eight goals and three assists for 11 points to ranks seventh in the League at the time of his injury. Cabral is Baltimore's all-time leading scorer with 720 points and ranks 29th all-time in the MISL in points.
