Baltimore Blast: Won previous game against Syracuse Silver Knights 12-4. Baltimore enters in first place in the East (7-0).
Rochester Lancers: Won previous game vs. Syracuse Silver Knights 12-11. Syracuse enters in second place in the East (4-1).
Firing on all cylinders:
The offense has been well rounded scoring 150 points in 7 games this season. Lucas Roque leads the team in goals with 14 points, 12 being from goals scored. Tony Donatelli has recorded 7 assists and 12 points so far this season. Baltimore is far from being one sided as the defense has played just as well as the offense. Pat Healey leads the league with 20 blocks and Baltimore leads the league in average goals allowed per game (2.3). In net for the Blast, William Vanzela has recorded 2 shutouts this season and leads the MASL in GAA (2.29) and save percentage (.830).
Team Depth
In addition to the returning players, the Blast roster also includes eight newcomers. Offensively the Blast really showed their team depth last week with 6 different players recording goals. Lucas Roque, Lucio Gonzaga, Tony Donatelli, Vini Dantas, Jonatas Melo, and Levi Houpeau all scored in the victory and the Blast now have 16 players who have recorded 2 or more points this season.
The Competition
The Rochester Lancers enter this weekend's game at 4-1 after an impressive overtime win over the Syracuse Silver Knights. The Lancers are comfortable in close games as 3 of their first 5 have gone to overtime or a shootout. Mauricio Salles has 14 goals on the year with is 7th best in the MASL. Rochester goalkeeping tandem includes Joe Kapinos who enters the match with a 3-0 record and is 5th in the league with a 3.95 goal allowed average and Marcelo Moreira who is 1-1 with a 5.13 goals allowed average and a .657 save percentage. The Lancers are coached by Doug Miller.
