Blast Fall to Utica City 5 - 2

Utica, NY - The Three time defending MASL Champion Blast move to 1-1 on the season after being defeated by Utica City FC in their first matchup of the season.

In their inaugural game in Utica, NY the Utica City FC got off to a quick start, with a goals from Lucio Gonzaga and Slavisa Ubiparipovic first quarter. During an uneventful 2nd quarter UCFC was able to hold the Blast scoreless for the remainder of the first half to take the 2-0 lead into halftime.

In the second half the Blast offense came alive on a highlight reel bicycle kick goal from Adriano dos Santos to make the score 2 - 1. The Blast tied the game up at 2 on a goal by Josh Hughes. Utica City would then once again take the lead on a goal by Darren Toby to make it 3-2. Joey Tavernese would score on a power play goal to make it 4-2 to close out the 3rd Quarter.

In the 4th Quarter Utica City would score an empty net goal by Lucio Gonzaga to secure the Utica City win, 5-2.

The win puts Utica City in first place in the Eastern Division. The Blast fall to 1 -1 on the season.

The Blast are back in action Saturday, December 8th when they host Utica City at 6:00 p.m. EST. Tickets can be bought at ticketmaster.com or at the SECU Arena box office.
