
Blast Defeat Sonora 7-3

Baltimore, MD - For the first time in regular season history the Blast hosted Soles de Sonora at the SECU Arena in a MLK Day afternoon matchup. In a hard fought game the Blast were victorious 7-3.
The Blast would strike first with a goal from Daniel Peruzzi assisted by Vini Dantas. At the 6:14 mark, Tony Donatelli found the back of the net off a beautiful shot from the yellow line. Before the end of the quarter, Sonora would get on the board with a goal from Jesus Alberto Avendano. William Vanzela and the Blast defense controlled the quarter stopping all but one of Sonora's 14 shots on goal. At the end of the first the Blast led 2-1.
Three Blast goals would extend the lead in the second quarter. Vini Dantas found the back of the net off an assist from Jonatas Melo at the 1:23 mark. Daniel Peruzzi then recorded back-to-back goals to record the hat trick and send the Blast into the locker room leading 5-1.
In his first game of the season with the Blast, veteran forward Lucas Roque returned with a goal at the 3:08 mark in the third quarter. This would be the only goal recorded in the quarter. William Vanzela remained strong in net recording 20 saves through three quarters. The Blast went into the final quarter leading 6-1.
In the final quarter, Sonora would score back-to-back goals early but the Blast defense shut down any chance of a comeback. With five seconds remaining, Tony Donatelli would score a goal to seal the victory. At the final buzzer, the Blast were victorious 7-3.
The Blast were led by goalkeeper William Vanzela who finished the game with 25 saves. Offensively, Daniel Peruzzi recorded a hat trick and Vini Dantas recorded a goal and two assists.
The Blast are back in action this Saturday, January 25th, playing host to the San Diego Sockers at the SECU Arena. Kickoff is at 6:05 p.m. EST. Tickets are on sale now through the Blast office or TicketMaster.
