Blast Defeat Silver Knights 5-4 in OT

The Blast win their second straight overtime game by a score of 5-4 over the Silver Knights. In front of a crowd of 1,747, Jon Orlando had 2 goals and Tony Donatelli recorded 2 assists for the Blast. Bo Jelovac and Kenardo Forbes each recorded a goal and an assist for Syracuse.
The game started out as a defensive battle, with both teams limiting scoring chances. Jon Orlando scored the only goal of the first quarter to give the Blast a 1-0 lead. Both teams had more chances in the second quarter. Daniel Peruzzi scored for the Blast to take a 2-0 lead. Syracuse would quickly answer, with a goal of their own just a minute later. Bo Jelovac scored for the Silver Knights to cut the Blast lead in half. The Blast would go into halftime with a 2-1 lead.
Both defenses continued their strong play in the second half. Each team had scoring chances in the 3rd quarter, but neither team was able to capitalize, as it was a scoreless 3rd quarter. The offenses got going in the 4th quarter. Marco Nascimento scored on the power play for the Blast to take a 3-1 lead. Syracuse would answer with 3 straight goals of their own. Nate Bourdeau, Kenardo Forbes, and Slavisa Ubiparipovic scored for the Silver Knights to take a 4-3 lead. Juan Pereira scored for the Blast to tie the game at 4-4 with 16 seconds left in regulation and send the game to overtime. Jon Orlando scored 1:27 into overtime to win it for the Blast.
This is the 4th straight win for the Blast. Goalkeeper William Vanzela had 14 saves in the game for Baltimore. Syracuse goalkeeper Andrew Coughlin recorded 8 saves of his own. Baltimore went 1-1 on the power play and Syracuse was 2-2 on the power play.
The Blast are back in action with two home games at SECU Arena next weekend. They host the Kansas City Comets on Friday, January 19 at 7:35 p.m. and host the Harrisburg Heat on Saturday, January 20 at 6:05 p.m. Tickets can be purchased by contacting the Blast office at 410-732-5278 or through ticketmaster.com
