Baltimore Blast News Release

Baltimore - The Baltimore Blast announced today the full schedule for the 2009-10 season. The team will open the season at 1st Mariner Arena on Friday, November 13 against the Rockford Rampage, Baltimore's opponent in the 2009 Championship Game. The Blast will play 20 games this season; 11 at home and nine on the road.

2009-10 season highlights include four games against the Blast's long-time rival, the Milwaukee Wave, who have joined the league after spending the 2008-09 season in the now-defunct XSL. The Wave will play at 1st Mariner Arena on January 9 and 30. The Blast will host the Rampage twice, in the first and last home games of the season, on November 13 and again on March 12. The Blast will also play six games against La RaZa de Monterrey and six games against the Philadelphia KiXX. In total, the Blast will play seven home games on Friday nights and four home games on Saturday nights. All of the 11 home games will kick off at 7:35 p.m.

Keeping with the Baltimore Blast tradition of affordable family entertainment, fans will be treated to various promotional items throughout the season including T-shirts, soccer balls and bobble heads. The team will host a variety of theme nights including Boy and Girl Scout night and two post-game Christian concerts. In addition, the team will induct at least one additional player into the Blast Hall of Fame later in the season. The first of two post-game Christian concerts will be November 13 when Kutless and Chasen take the stage following the Blast vs. Rampage game. The Blast game ticket includes admission to the post-game concerts.

Head coach Danny Kelly will return for his fourth full season as the team's coach and David Bascome will return as Kelly's assistant coach.

The Blast will play all their home games at 1st Mariner Arena this season, with the playoffs set to begin in late March. The 2009-10 season marks the 30th season of professional indoor soccer in Baltimore, making Baltimore the only city in the United States to boast 30 consecutive years of professional soccer. The Blast will compete this season against the Philadelphia KiXX, Monterrey La RaZa, Rockford Rampage and Milwaukee Wave. The Blast will begin training camp on October 26.
